We have a great trip coming up on SUNDAY, the 11th of February. It is one of my favorites and not too far away from Columbia. Come join us on the North Fork of the Edisto River, paddling from Baughmans Landing (Shillings Bridge) to the Rose Gardens in Orangeburg (about 8-10 river miles). We plan to reach the take-out before dark.

This is a good trip for all types of boats and skill level of paddlers unless the Creek is in flood. We will make alternate plans closer to the date if that is the case. We will meet at the put-in at South Cedar Creek Road at 11:00. (Plan on about a half an hour drive from the football stadium). There is no shuttle to run.

The regular monthly meeting of Palmetto Paddlers will be held at the Luther Lee building (directions and map on the website) on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:00 PM. We think you'll be interested in the program we have lined up. Keith Beaudry from the American Red Cross will be talking about first aid, wilderness first aid and CPR.

This promises to be a great trip. Congaree Creek borders the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve and is a beautiful little stream right here in Columbia, only recently available to paddlers. Check out this website for a description of this area and an overview of some local history.
