Description:
A great opportunity for all our boats and all skill levels, this is a trip that has lots to recommend it. Great variety and very little current, a bird show (heron rookery) and possibly wild irises and carnivorous plants. Plus, you get to travel across a pond, through a forest of trees and up a creek!

Sunday on the Saluda

Description:
Meet at 1 pm in zoo parking lot for a trip from the zoo down to Gervais Street bridge. About 2.5 or 3 hours with shuttle. This is a mild whitewater trip for paddlers who may desire to try some whitewater. All skill levels and boats, except for fiberglass and sea kayaks. Bring helmet and pfd. We may have one or two spare helmets but check with me.

Canoeing for Kids Raft-A-Rama

Description:
Non club event.
Canoeing for Kids: Raft-A-Rama on the Saluda River. Pre-registration (includes a
meal) by May 7. Raft trips are scheduled for 10AM, 1PM & 4PM. Cost is $50.00 per person. Benefits go to Canoeing For Kids. Palmetto Paddlers have supported this fund raiser for many years.

Stumphole Swamp (Lake Marion)

Description:
This is a beautiful day trip on Lake Marion from Stump Hole landing, only about an hour and a half from Columbia. We'll have some open water to cross, but unless the wind is very bad it should not be a difficult 20 minute crossing to the trees. Once we're in the trees, the wind and current are not generally a problem. So all types of boats are appropriate for this trip.

11:00 AM Safety talk and sign release.
Shuttle all those who do not want to walk back to the cars (see below). Anyone who is late can join us in route. This is a leisurely trip.
Put in immediately after the shuttle
The paddle will take about 2 plus hours.
There is a good seafood restaurant in Winnsboro on the way back for all who are interested.

Lots of exciting things planned for the meeting this month. Mandy, from Get Your Gear On Consignment Shop, will be sharing with us information about this shop, gear available, trips they will be scheduling and hints on overnight kayak/canoe camping. This should be very helpful for the overnight trips we have coming up on the schedule.
