Meet at 1 pm in zoo parking lot for a trip from the zoo down to Gervais Street bridge. About 2.5 or 3 hours with shuttle. This is a mild whitewater trip for paddlers who may desire to try some whitewater. All skill levels and boats, except for fiberglass and sea kayaks. Bring helmet and pfd. We may have one or two spare helmets but check with me.

UPDATE: Checked power company phone announcement today. They have one gate to run 100% today, Saturday and Sunday. This will be great water level and great weather. The paddle is on. We will meet at 11 am at NC welcome center on I-26. Remember its about 1 1/2 hours from Columbia to welcome center but allow for any delays.

We will meet at the River Front Park at the top of the Columbia Canal at 6:30 p.m. After we shuttle our cars to the Amphitheater parking lot and return will sign the release form and have a brief meeting to discuss the trip and safety issues. We will put in just below the fish ladder and have a leisurely paddle to the Amphitheater take out by the Gervais Street Bridge.

We're planning a trip on the beautiful, black water Lumber River, leaving from Fair Bluff, NC, traveling across the border into SC and taking out at the landing near Nichols, SC, about 18 river miles. This is a great trip for all types of boats and skill levels. The river is black water with (usually) moderate current and no expected pull-overs.
