02 / 16 (trip) Congaree Creek Start: 10:30 am End: 2:00 pm Description: Everyone is welcomed to join us for a fun, relaxing trip on Congaree Creek. We will paddle from the landing on Highway 321 in West Columbia/Cayce to the take out at Old State Road in Congaree Heritage Preserve. The put in is several blocks east of I-26. The trip length is about 5 miles and should take us somewhere around 3 hours to complete. more info
02 / 17 (trip) Congaree National Park Hike Start: 1:00 pm End: 4:00 pm Description: Hike the Congaree National Park at the perfect no-bugs time of year. Very little water in the park, no paddling involved ;) We will follow the Weston Lake Loop Trail. Mostly flat, an easy walk, partly on boardwalk. About four and a half miles / 2 to 3 hours. Group decides if longer walk desired. more info

Leonard Vaughn from NOAA is coming to give a presentation about what to do in case of lightning and how to access the information NOAA has available. We will also be voting on the changes to the bylaws. Kyle Altman is going to do a trip report about his trip in Florida over the new years holiday. more info

On March 1, we will be having the Midlands Makeover, which is our largest event of the year. We host several cleanups each year and encourage other groups to host their own cleanups and projects. 03 / 15 (event) River Quest in Beaufort Start: 10:00 am End: 5:00 pm Description: Non-club event. Beaufort, SC, is having a kayak/canoe event in downtown Beaufort on March 15th. This is the 3rd year for the event called River Quest. There is a 3 mile and a 7.4 mile race in the Beaufort River with put in at the Downtown Marina on Bay Street.
