Description:
This is a beautiful day trip on Lake Marion from Stump Hole landing, only about an hour and a half from Columbia. We'll have some open water to cross, but unless the wind is very bad it should not be a difficult 20 minute crossing to the trees. Once we're in the trees, the wind and current are not generally a problem.

A great opportunity for all our boats and all skill levels, this is a trip that has lots to recommend it. Great variety and very little current, a bird show (heron rookery) and possibly wild irises and carnivorous plants. Plus, you get to travel across a pond, through a forest of trees and up a creek! Come join us.

Description: This trip is done the first Sunday of each month from May to September. About 3 hour trip (1pm to 4 pm) about 1-2 hours actual paddling, rest of time is shuttling and break. Two rapids at Class I or II which can be portaged if desired after scouting. Need helmet. Water is very cold even in July so dress to keep dry and warm. Bring water and snacks if you like as we often stop at islands at Whitehouse Rapids for a break. We pass an eagle's nest which has a pair of eagles and 3 new eaglets. Take out is at Gervais Street bridge behind New Orleans restaurant. Very scenic trip. Highly recommended.

Description:
A favorite paddle and a good one for most types of boats and skill levels. There is very little current and nice access to both sunshine and shade during the trip. We'll probably paddle 4-5 hours. No shuttle necessary. Be sure to leave your car empty at the landing for safety's sake.
