Join us for a paddle on the beautiful Lower Green River in Saluda, North Carolina. This is a fun stretch of fairly constant class 1-2 Whitewater, not too difficult, but few boring flatwater stretches. It is a perfect river for beginners with some experience an class 2 whitewater and intermediate boaters who want to take it easy.
For more details, see these links:
Participants should be comfortable in Class II whitewater and have proper equipment for the conditions: Whitewater Boat, PFD, helmets, and whistle required. Bring plenty of fluids for hydration, snacks, and any safety equipment that you are trained to use.
This is a dam release river, so we will coordinate with the dam release schedule. We will meet in Columbia at the Harbison Home Depot for carpooling @ time to coincide with the water release schedule, presumably around 9 am. Driving time to the put-in is approximately 2 hours. It will take approximately 30 minutes to set shuttle, so we will likely get on the water around 12 am (based on a 9 am start time in Columbia).
The paddling typically lasts around 2.5 hours, but with a lunch break and plenty of time to play in the wave I expect the fun to last at least 4 hours.
We should be on our way back to Columbia around 4:30 pm. On the way back, some of us will likely stop for dinner.
