Plan to meet at Sparkleberry Landing at 9:30 AM. We'll have a short safety meeting and then launch for a wandering adventure through one of the most beautiful flat water paddling areas in South Carolina. The trip length will largely depend on the water levels. This will be a suitable trip for both kayaks, canoes. Paddlers should have some experience paddling as we going off trail for a portion of the trip.
We may not come across dry land for a lunch break so you'll need to be comfortable with being in the water for at least 4 hours and paddling 7 to 10 miles.
As always you'll be required to wear a pfd with a whistle attached. Sparkleberry swamp is home to all sorts of bird life and crawling creatures. It will be great time to take plenty of photos and enjoy a completely undeveloped part of South Carolina. Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated and a snack for a lunch stop with a million dollar view. Don't forget sunscreen, bug spray and a GPS unit if you have one.
