An out and back trip to explore part of the northern end of Lake Marion. Some swampy areas, some open water and some wandering around a flooded forest. It's a suitable trip for 12+foot recreational style and sea kayaks. There might not be a decent spot to take a rest break but we'll certainly stop and take advantage of any we come across. Dress for cold water paddling (think about layers you can easily remove if it warms up and don't wear cotton clothing). Bring a snack for lunch and enough water for 3 to 4 hours of paddling. You'll need to wear a properly fitting PFD and have a whistle attached. A very courteous DNR officer did a safety check on the last trip and specifically asked to see and hear our whistles.

We won't have and set location or distance in mind and will gear the trip so every one can paddle at a relaxed pace, take plenty of pictures, enjoy each other's company, work with GPS units and compasses if you have them and want to practice without the fear of getting lost. As a bonus, Low Falls Landing isn't to far from Lonestar BBQ in Santee, SC if anyone is interested in eating out after the trip.

Contact Mike Hollis if you are interested in the trip or have any questions before making a decision on attending.
