The weather is getting warmer and it's time to get back on the water if you have take the winter off. Join us for a paddle on the beautiful Lower Green River in Saluda, North Carolina. This is a fun stretch of fairly constant class 1-2 Whitewater. It is a perfect river for beginners with some experience in class 2 whitewater and intermediate boaters who want to take it easy.  For more details see

american whitewater and boatingbeta

Participants should be comfortable in Class II whitewater and have proper equipment for the conditions: Whitewater Boat, PFD, helmets, & Whistle required.  The water and temps could still be cold, so dress accordingly. Also bring plenty of fluids for hydration, snacks, and any safety equipment that you are trained to use.

This is a dam release river, so we will coordinate with the dam release schedule. We will meet at the Fishtop put-in at 11:30 AM.  Driving time to the put-in (Fishtop parking lot) is a bit over 2 hours from Columbia in light traffic.  It will take approximately 30 minutes to set shuttle; we will likely get on the water around 12 Noon (based on a 9 AM start time in Columbia).

The float typically lasts around 2.5 hours, but with a lunch break and plenty of time to play in the wave, I expect the fun to last at least 4 hours.   So with changing loading the boats and retrieving the cars you should be on our way back to Columbia around 4:30 pm.

Scott Adams has offered to meet at 9:00 AM at the DMV off exit #97 to carpool. If anyone is interested, they should contact Scott at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
