This weekend may be the last chance to enjoy a moon-lit paddle without the obstruction of laser lights. The Full Moon is this weekend, so let’s do an (Almost) Full Moon Paddle Saturday Night.
Meet at the Senate ST landing (1115 Gist St, Columbia, SC 29201) at 8:00 to drop boats. Someone will stand guard over boats and gear while everyone heads to The Jordan Memorial Boat Ramp (611 Rosewood Dr, Columbia, SC 29201) to leave vehicles. We should be back to put boats in around 8:30 or so. This should allow us twilight to setup and see the moon rise while we work our way down, as Moonrise is at 8:15 and Sunset will be at 8:37 Saturday night. A light is required by South Carolina Law for night boating, so bring a headlamp and/or some type of light for your boats. I recommend a low-light for on your boat and a brighter white-light source to turn on occasionally when needed for navigation. I have found a light in a colored dry box emits enough light to be seen but not obstruct the view. Glow sticks are always a nice touch.
· Kayak/Paddle (rec boats OK)
