December 8th (camping) and 9th (paddling) 2017
Trip Coordinator-Geoffrey Chambers
Show up at the Group Campsite any time after 4 PM on December 8th to overnight camp prior to the trip.
Meet at 9:00 AM on December 9th at Bannister Bridge Landing for Paddling Trip
This is a paddling trip with optional overnight camping prior to the trip. Congaree National Park has a nice group campsite. A site or multiple sites will be reserved depending on group size.
Cedar Creek is a tributary to the Congaree River that runs through the Congaree National Park. We will meet at 9:00 AM at Bannister Bridge on Saturday December 9th and plan to be on the water by 9:30 AM.
This is a 6.2 mile paddle and portages around a few downed trees are possible and probable. The duration of the trip is between 4 and 6 hours. Our end point is Cedar Creek Landing.
Bring a lunch. Wise Lake is the halfway point and a great stopping point for lunch.
Some vehicles will be staged at Cedar Creek Landing prior to the start of the trip.
This trip will be suitable for all skill levels. Trip requirements are ability to paddle at a relaxed pace for 6.2 miles and ability to get in and out of a boat at the creek bank. You'll need to bring and wear a PFD with a whistle, sunscreen, insect repellant, water and a something to eat for a lunch break.
