Join us for a paddle on the beautiful Lower Green River in Saluda, North Carolina. This is a fun stretch of fairly constant class 1-2 Whitewater, not to difficult but few boring flat water stretches.  It is a perfect river for beginners with some experience an class 2 whitewater and intermediate boater who want to take it easy.  For more details see http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/1081/ and http://www.boatingbeta.com/runs/greenlower.htm. I assume the high water from the heavy rain on Monday, October 23, 2017 should have receded, however, the flow might still be higher than usual.

Participants should be comfortable in Class II whitewater and have proper equipment for the conditions: Whitewater Boat, PFD, helmets, & Whistle required.  The water and temps could already be cold, so dress accordingly. Bring plenty of fluids for hydration, snacks, and any safety equipment that you are trained to use.

This is a dam release river, so we will coordinate with the dam release schedule. We will meet in Columbia at the Harbison Home Depot for carpooling @ time to coincide with the water release schedule, presumably around 9am.  Time to the put-in is approximately 2 hours.  It will take approximately 30 minutes to set shuttle so that we will likely get on the water around 12 am (based on a 9am start time in Columbia).  The float typically lasts around 2.5 hours but with a lunch break and plenty of time to play in the wave I expect the fun to last at least 4 hours.   So with changing loading the boats and retrieving the cars we should be on our way back to Columbia around 4:30 pm.   On the way back, some of us will likely stop for dinner.
