Tyger river dam proposed???

I just moved to south carolina but am an avid paddler from my days in GA. I paddle and fish, and love both of the aspects. Anyway, I was researching the Tyger river and noticed that it is being considered for a new dam and lake. This is not, not cool in my opinon. If you guys dont know this already I would pass it along. I am glad I stumbled onto this site today too because I know that there are some other paddlers out there like me that might be able to help stop this. Check out the link below for more options.

Also, for any of you guys who are also interested in fishing out of your kayaks in rivers and streams, check out this website that I am helping get started. It is dedicated to fishing rivers and streams in South Carolina.

It will eventually be as big as georgiariverfishing.com with many members who can help stand up for our rivers when they are threatened like the Tyger is now. If anyone wants to go fishing, send me a message.

Tyger River

I haven't heard any news on this subject in over a year, so here's hoping it's "dead in the water."

The Union County Economic Development website has documents in favor of the dam. All of that stuff dates to 2004. Worth keeping an eye on, though.

Last year I heard from a member of the upstate Sierra Club on this topic, so I know there is more than one group tracking the issue.

The Palmetto Paddlers paddled the river back in 2004 as well.
