Harbison State Forest Hike
I am offering a "hiking" trip for Saturday January 20, 9am at the Harbison State Forest. This trip will hike down to the canoe put-in and along Broad River with a beautiful view of the river from a high ridge. We have paddled this section several times and it is a good chance to see it before you paddle. This trip is on the Spider Woman Trail. I have recently done this trip and its great. The leaves have dropped and the view of the river is impressive. This trip is 3 miles and is moderately difficult. It should take about 2.5 hours at a slow pace. I highly recommend this hike. We will meet at Dutch Square near the theaters and Wachovia bank at 9am. We will shuttle as I have an annual parking pass. Those wishing to meet at the park parking lot will have to pay a minimal parking fee. Bring water, a lunch, and dress appropriately( blue jeans are fine). Bring comfortable shoes and rain gear if weather indicates possible rain. If interested please e-mail me so I have your e-mail address and I can keep you posted. I am hopeful that the club can do additional activities, such as nature hikes, mountain biking, and camping, that encourage the use and appreciation of rivers and nature in general.
