Augusta Canal
Augusta Canal paddle for Saturday March 17 at 9:30am. Meet at Georgia Welcome Center on I-20 just after you leave SC into Georgia. First exit after crossing bridge over Savannah River. We will caravan to put-in 10 minutes away. This trip is about 7 miles on flat but moving water. It is an annual trip because it is fun, easy for all skills and beautiful scenery. This trip starts at a park, travels through a park with walking trails, past some civil war historical buildings, and ends in downtown Augusta. Check out photos from prior trips on our web site. We will take lunch along Savannah River. Bring sunscreen, water, hat and lunch. Take rain gear just in case. Trip will be 3-4 hours including lunch and shuttle. Again, this trip is suitable for all paddlers including beginners. Any kayaks, canoes, touring and fiberglass. Short walk from cars to put-in and take-out will be 25 feet from cars. Safe parking. Just remember that Welcome Center is about 1 hour 15 minutes+ from Columbia so allow time to get there on time or early. We will pull out from Welcome Center by 9:45am. Any questions or if running late call me on cell 803 730-1856 or e-mail Riverrunnersc@aol.com to let me know you want to sign up.
