Stumpy Pond
Stumpy Pond Landing is located on Cedar Creek Reservoir just below Great Falls. This is a pretty pond which is part of the Catawba River Valley. Almost all the land in this area has been purchased by the Katawba Land Trust for conservation. The reservoir has several large islands and the shore has numerous large granite outcropings. There will be the opportunity to see the upper side of the hydro-electric plant by Cedar creek Landing and also the lower side of the hydro-electric plant at Great Falls Reservoir. We will see the old channel for the Lumber River and the current channel. Rocky Creek feeds into this area and has some very large red sand bars. If there is enough water, this creek is fun paddling. The trip can be about 4 hours or as short as you like as we will put in and take out at the same landing. This is a great trip for all types of boats and skill levels.
