Palmetto Paddlers Meeting (Saluda River)

07/31/2007 - 6:30pm
07/31/2007 - 9:00pm

ATTENTION: NO ONE WILL BE at the Luther Lee Building; meeting time is different than usual. Visitors welcome!

This is our annual paddling meeting. Everyone is welcome to bring their boat and enjoy the company of other club members on the water. We will meet at 6:30 at the zoo. There will be a brief business meeting, then will be two trips run concurrently on the Saluda, section 1 or section 3. The group who would like to run section 1 will run shuttle to the radio tower and put in below the dam. This is a section with no rated white water rapids though there will be some rocks to get through. Mike Hollis has agreed to coordinate this trip. It will be about 2 hours. Those that want more white water will run a shuttle down to Gervais street and paddle from below the zoo to the take-out, about 2 hours. White water and tough recreational boats are best for this section; helmets are a must. Dennis Catoe might be able to help with this if you let him know a few days before the meeting. Please contact him for additional information.

No need for advance notice unless you would like further information or need help with helmets from Dennis. (He only has access to a few so do ask him soon. His email is riverrunnersc@aol.com) For questions you can email kwhitaker@agfirst.com or Mike Hollis at eugenemh@bellsouth.net. Hope to see all at the zoo at 6:30. The Saluda is beautiful this time of the evening.

Happy Trails, Kate
