Enoree River
Update: Trip is still on Saturday. 40% chance of rain, scattered storms. I think there's a chance we might get a little shower sometime during the trip but I think it still looks good to paddle. Temp in 70s, river level is good. Make sure to bring rain gear just in case. Safety is always our highest concern. Contact Dennis with questions.
Whitmire to Brazzleman Bridge, 10 miles, about 4-5 hour paddle, flat water. Very scenic this time of year with many blooming trees and plants along river. Report and photos from previous trip. This is fine trip for beginners.
Easy, slow moving water. If water is up there are some twists and turns early in the trip but it flattens out fast. Only caution is fallen trees may require getting out of boats and walking around obstructions, this can be muddy and thick brush. Suggest shoes you don't mind getting wet or muddy. Also I prefer long pants and not shorts but some prefer shorts if its warmer. I prefer extra protection just in case of snakes (and broken glass) but I have a snake phobia. We have never had anyone bitten (we make too much noise). Gloves are good for portages as well. Also extra clothes are recommended. In case of a spill which has happened, it could be 4 hours in wet clothes so extra dry clothes good idea. Also take rain jacket and hat. In long trips 4 + hours, rain can always come out of nowhere. Not trying to scare you, this is fun trip. Always helps to have the right gear. Its more fun if you are also comfortable. Bring lunch and water as well.
The water level has dropped below 300. It is expected to rain between now and the 12th. Prefer level at 400. I think it will make it. Let me know if you are coming.
Meet at 10 am. I-26 take Whitmire exit 72 (Hwy 121) go to end of exit ramp to paved area where old gas station has been torn down. This is approx. 40 min from Columbia. Good parking at take-out.
