A great opportunity for all our boats and all skill levels, this is a trip that has lots to recommend it. Great variety and very little current, a bird show (heron rookery) and possibly wild irises and carnivorous plants. Plus, you get to travel across a pond, through a forest of trees and up a creek! Come join us.

We'll meet at the landing at 10. Follow the road through the park, past the park building and the bath house (great bathroom there!), and to the end of the road. We'll show you where to go from there. We can launch practically from our cars! No shuttle necessary and no schlepping of boats down a long path to a landing. The trip will take about 3 or 4 hours. Might want to bring a snack. Binoculars and cameras will be good to have. We can go into Camden after the trip for a late lunch after the paddle for those that might be interested.

Directions: State Parks Website. The Park is just outside of Camden, about 37 miles from Columbia. To get there: Take I-20 from Columbia towards Florence. Then take Hwy 521 (exit 98) toward Camden for 2.3 miles. Turn right onto DeKalb St/Hwy 1 and drive 3 mi. Turn right onto Stagecoach Rd. (there is a small park sign on the right side of the road at this turn; look for it) and drive 2.4 miles. Turn left onto Park Rd. and look for park signs. Park entrance is .2 miles on the right. I usually count on a little less than an hour from Columbia for the trip.
