This trip is from Hwy 121 near Carlisle, SC to Hwy 34 near Blair, SC and covers 15.8 river miles. This section of the Broad River runs through Sumter National Forest with little to no development on its banks and is quite scenic. The river has some mild Class I rapids and rocks so some maneuvering is required and fiberglass boats therefore are NOT recommended.

We will meet at the put-in at 9:30 AM at the Sandy River Access Area then run the shuttle to the take-out at Hwy 34 and back; To reach the put-in take Forest Service Road 406 which is on the Right after you cross the river on Hwy 121 coming from Carlisle, SC.

Bring lunch, plenty of fluids, sun block, hat and decent footwear in case the river is very low and we have to drag our boats over some shallow areas or rocks. If it's a hot day we will likely go for a swim. The take-out is on the left just past the Hwy 34 bridge. Afterwards those interested may go out for some Barbeque. If you have any questions or plan to come on the trip, e-mail me at docedb@sc.rr.com.
