We are going to try a something a little different for this trip, a moon light paddle on Lake Murray. We will put in around 7:00 p.m. and paddle to the Big Creek/Little Saluda River area and then turn around for what should be a spectacular view of the moon rising over Lake Murray. At that time of evening we will encounter few if any boats, and it will be much cooler than paddling in the mid day sun. Big Creek itself is a largely undeveloped so we'll have a good chance of encountering some of the creatures of the night and have the water to ourselves. Paddling in the dark is not for inexperienced paddlers. We will cross an open section of water going and coming (no shuttle) and parts of the trip are in a fairly remote area of the lake. However, if you are up for an adventure and want to see and do something different on a Saturday night come and join us. There will be plenty of water, no rocks, and no strainers on this trip! The trip length will be about 7 miles round trip.

Equipment: You will need to have the following equipment, PFD, whistle, and a head-lamp or a water proof flashlight. Any type of kayak and canoe is appropriate for this trip.

Directions: Take Highway 378 West to the traffic circle where Highway 391 intersects. Go half way around the traffic circle and continue on Highway 378 for approximately 3.5 miles. Turn right on Hollywood Road (SC-S-41-44, look for the small Hollywood School sign) and follow for about 3.2 miles until you cross over the bridge. Little River Landing will be on your right. There is a $1.00 fee for each boat launched.
