Saluda to Charleston need advice.

The first week of September I'm planning a trip starting on the Lower Green in NC, joining the Broad then the Congaree and into the Cooper. I will be paddling solo and no support to go around the dams. Therein lies my request for advice. I have studied Google Earth and the dams. I did talk with someone in the SC river resource dept. I'm aware of the call boxes at the Lockhardt dam and the Lake Moultrie dam. Can I count on help at these dams? Any other advice on the rivers and dams would help, especially: is there enough water!
As an FYI, I am a solid class IV paddler. I paddled the entire French Broad from Brevard to Knoxville solo last year (222 miles). I am aware of the hazards of paddling alone.
Thanks
John

A terrific adventure

Ahoy John,

Sounds like a great trip. Richard Bernabe made a similar trip in 2007.

From his Press Release

"Launching at the Broad River on the border of North and South Carolina, the approximately-month-long trip will follow Bernabe as he snakes his way through the heavily wooded Sumter National Forest, into Columbia's Congaree National Park, beneath the great cypress stands of the Rimini Swamp, through the enormous Lakes Marion and Moultrie, and dropping anchor in the Cooper River in Charleston."

Read and view his videos at River Journal.

Have a great voyage and take notes. I look forward to reading about your journey.

Dennis

Thanks

I just glanced at Bernabe's web site. This weekend I'll look at it more in depth, but I wanted to say thanks before I forgot. That's the kind of info I need. I appreciate your taking the time to forward the link.
