Sunday May 8, 2010
Trip Leader: Dennis Catoe
Paddlers: (5) Dennis Catoe, Tommy Thomas, Frank Ward, Vinay Badrinath, and Allyson Davis. Fewer than normal number of paddlers, but this was a rescheduled date and another trip was scheduled for the same time.
Conditions: Sunny, warm, clear sky and light occasional wind. Temperature near 85 degrees. Canal water level at approx. 3000 cfs. Swift for first mile then flatwater.
General Description: 7 mile trip from diversion dam to downtown Augusta. Met at 11 am at GA Welcome Center. After shuttle it was about 1 pm when we started on the water. Finished paddle about 4:30pm. Paddle is about 2 ½ hours and then 30 to 45 minutes for lunch break. The lunch break allowed us to view the Savannah River. No one spilled going through the lock gate. Paddle through downtown Augusta was very scenic.
