UPDATED Palmetto Paddlers Meeting-on-the-water

Be prepared if weather looks threatening. Paddling trip(s) MAY BE CANCELED if trip leader(s) don't think we can out run it. There may be a back-up plan if bad weather happens, like maybe meeting to go eat. Meet at launch sites as announced. If weather is bad, we'll call each other to plan backup.

Your choice of trips:
1) Whitewater - Saluda River. Zoo to Cayce Riverfront Park at Gervais St Bridge. Couple class ll rapids at low water. Helmets required. Meet at upper (right) parking lot at zoo at 6:00pm Approx. 2 hours. Leader- Dennis Catoe
2) Flat water - Congaree River. Cayce Riverfront Park to Cayce Landing off Old State Road. Meet at Cayce Riverfront Park near amphitheater. Approx. 2 hours. Helmet not required. Recommended to bring lights (headlamps or lighting on boat) just in case delay getting out before dark. Leader- Rock Garick
Perisanti Island
Submitted by PP Admin on July 12, 2010 - 10:40am.This trip will start and end at Carolina King Marina and is suitable for any skill level and most flat water boats though canoes might have a problem if it is windy. The Marina phone # is (803) 478-2800. The lotus are in bloom and they are spectacular. There are a lot of birds just at the marina including great egrets, purple martins, and blue birds.
